FOLLOWING A STRUCTURED TRAINING PLAN IS THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR TAKING PART IN THE BALLARAT MARATHON ROAD RUNNING FESTIVAL.

These 16-week training plans, which start on Monday, 8 January 2024, have been put together by the experts from Ballarat-based RADCentre.

Through its key services of strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, injury rehabilitation and sports dietetics, RADCentre aims to empower athletes of all ages and abilities to improve their performance and wellbeing.

There are beginner and intermediate plans for the 10KM, Half Marathon and Marathon distances.

10KM TRAINING GUIDES

10KM BEGINNER

This program is for someone who has never run 10km before. It sets out a structured program over 16 weeks to help get you from sitting on the couch to being able to run the 10km race.

10KM INTERMEDIATE

This program is for someone who currently runs 1-2 times per week and is looking for a challenge of running a personal best time in the 10km race.


HALF MARATHON TRAINING GUIDES

HALF MARATHON BEGINNER

This program is designed for someone who is active and runs 1-2 times per week and is looking for some clear structure to work towards running their first half marathon.

HALF MARATHON INTERMEDIATE

This program is designed for someone who is already running 2-3 times per week and looking to have good crack at a personal best time in the half marathon.


MARATHON TRAINING GUIDES

MARATHON BEGINNER

This program is designed for someone who enjoys running and is keen to seek the challenge of completing a full marathon. It will take you from an easy 75min long run to begin with, right through to tackling the marathon.

MARATHON INTERMEDIATE

This program is designed for someone who is already running 3-4 times per week and looking to have good crack at a personal best time in the marathon.
